We are beyond thrilled that our work, A Playful History, was selected for display at Homo Faber 2024, marking our first-ever international exhibition. The prestigious event, curated by the Michelangelo Foundation with art direction by Luca Guadagnino and Nicolò Rosmarini, took place at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice, Italy, from 1st to 30th September 2024.
Our series of seven charismatic vessels will be part of the “Nature” exhibit within The Journey of Life, which is the central theme of this year’s exhibition. Each piece in the collection mischievously reinvents ancient Greek and Roman drinking vessels, taking on more flamboyant proportions while celebrating traditional craftsmanship. Aged and patinated through fire and lime, then repaired with our signature waxed cotton stitch-work, these vessels invite viewers to engage with the playful spirit of the past through a contemporary lens.
This immersive exhibition celebrates the life and work of artisans from around the world. It is a true honour for us to be included alongside such talented craftspeople, as the exhibition explores standout moments of life and everyday simplicities through the lens of craft. The blend of traditional techniques and contemporary interpretations was a highlight of the event, and we feel incredibly privileged to have our work showcased in such a prestigious setting.
Venice itself added to the magic of this experience—its canals, its history, and its vibrant art scene were a source of constant inspiration. We’re still buzzing from the incredible connections we made and the support we received. Thank you to everyone who visited our exhibit and to Homo Faber for making this unforgettable journey possible. We can’t wait to carry this experience forward into the next chapter of Ash & Plumb’s story.
For those who couldn’t make it to Venice, check out the photos of our exhibit below and stay tuned for more updates!
